Ox ford MS Humane Society Needs Help with puppy mill rescues
The story of the 40 dogs rescued from hell on earth is here.

http://web.me.com/cindyleighleigh/Site_2/Latest_News.html

The photos are not for the faint of heart. They are so matted that in some cases its hard to tell what kind of dogs they are and which end is which.

They are asking for financial help to get these dogs groomed and vetted. I know that times are tough and the holidays are approaching, but even a small contribution will help them as they work to rehab these poor souls.

They are also posted on their Petfinder. com site along with their Paypal info

1. Heartbreaking. I'll pass this around to a few of my friends
the people who put those dogs through that were monsters!

3. Thanks . People who go to pet stores to buy puppies
need to know about this. Sadly, it is non uncommon.

I wonder if the HS has contacted Best Friends or Hearts United for Animals for help.

2. This is so sad.

4. Thanks for caring,
Lord knows what they will find once they clean them up and have a thorough vet examination - probably for the first time in their lives. These poor souls also have suffered psychological deprivation.

There has to be a special place in Hell for these puppy millers.

My rescue group took in a Shih Tzu last year who was matted like these guys. One of his front legs died because circulation had been cut off by the mats and it had to be amputated.

I wish I could do more than just send money. We're too far away and short of money and foster homes to take one of them. Small Paws Bichon Rescue did take the 2 bichons.

If many people just send $10, it will add up.

6. Yes, many small donations will help. I did contact
Best Friends about the situation in hopes that they can assist in some way.

7. Sent a few dollars, wish I could do more. Really brought back memories...
http://www.oxfordpets.com/default.asp

I saw some similar things when I volunteered at a shelter a few years ago and that brought it all back. A bunch from a puppy mill, one from a private owner who let grooming get out of control. She (the dog) was a tiny little poodle/Chihuahua mix or something like that. It was impossible to tell at first other than her size. Her fur had matted into material like plaster casts around most of her body. The shelter went through several sets of clipper blades getting the bulk of it off. I helped a friend work on getting the rest off of her. We got blisters from the scissors and tools we used. I still have a scar from a scratch from one of her nails we uncovered. Some of her toes were bent around crazy directions in these "casts". I remember when we got to a pocket of new fur and realizing this was a cute little white curly-haired dog under all the mess.
