5. Oh, Buddy.
Tears will leave no stain,
Time will ease the pain.
For every life that fades
Something beautiful remains.

10. He was gorgeous
wasn't he! I never really thought about it until I started going through the pics, but he was an exceptionally nice looking kitty. Can't believe it was a week ago today.

Our vet has a kitty up for adoption, a small, fat grey tabby. He seems to have an autoimmune thing going on with his skin, the vet isn't sure, and the shelter was going to put him down. Our vet took him and nursed him back to health. He asked if I wanted to adopt him, and I met him, he is VERY friendly, maybe about two or three. I'm so torn, we had a family meeting, we think it is too soon and just not sure we want to take on special needs kitty (he will need a weight loss plan and steroid shots for auto-immune stuff). But, what will my vet think if I say no? I'm not sure I could show my face back at the building. Plus, to top it all off, I have Lupus, my own autoimmune stuff, the vet knows this, how can I not take this animal.

thanks for your support.

Susan

13. Surely your vet would understand if you said, "sorry, it is just too soon."
Each grieving process is different, and the last thing you need is to feel pressure. I am sure your vet would respect that. Someone else may take him soon, and if not, you may or may not feel differently, with more time.

With most of my kitties I couldn't even think about getting a new one for months. In my most recent incident (last summer) I had just the opposite reaction -- and adopted quickly.

One other thing - it is possible the skin problem is simply a stress reaction. I had two kitties who were suffering from skin problems at the time of rescue and both of them cleared up, permanently, within several months of treatment.

16. oh, that's the worst
I hope you are the only one doing that at the time, so you can get in and out quickly. But you will feel better once you have brought him home to be with you, in your heart, forever.
