BUNNIES...SPRING IS COMING....
I just took Egypt and Luna out for a potty run, and all of the sudden, Egypt's leash flew out of my hand. She had spotted....the BUNNIES.

There were three rabbits frozen in their tracks in the backyard.

Thank goodness for a retractable leash. Egypt is terrified of the leash when it is dropped and comes flying at her and she stands perfectly still. Had I a regular leash, she would have been gone in a flash, of this I have no doubt.

As it is, I barely reached her in time to grab the leash. We stood there and watched them and once her whining reached a certain level, the rabbits took off into the woods, much to her chagrin.

She is currently STILL sitting here whining, at least 15 minutes have passed....

I am so happy the rabbits are starting to show up in the yard. Spring is coming :bounce::bounce:

2. She is a rat terrier....and is very prey driven
The slightest sound or movement sets her off.

She flushed a pheasant from the woods this past fall, and some turkeys a couple of weeks ago.

3. We have bunnies and geese
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 06:52 AM by sazemisery
Our pond has geese coming in every morning. The numbers vary from the core group of 5 to 40. Migration has definitely begun. There is much honking and posturing going on. They also play a game(?) that is quite amusing.

They get together in the middle of the pond then all dive underwater. You will not see a goose for maybe 10 seconds. Then when the first one pops up it will be far away from where it was when it submerged and it will honk until the others start popping up. Then they all honk with glee(?) and swim to the middle to start the game again. Mrsazemisery and I have watched this go on for 30 minutes or longer.

Back to topic, the bunnies are thick this year. We have always had bunnies nest in the back yard along the fence row of heavy brush. They come out into the yard to eat. I can't wait for baby bunnies.

Edit for teh speling
