Cat in Duluth suffers frostbite, seeking donations for vet
Did anyone see this on the Weather Channel this morning?

A poor calico cat was left out in -20 weather, has lost part of its ears and paw pads due to freezing cold and exposure. Neighbors have taken it in and have sought vet attention. She has to have her tail amputated next week because of someone's sutpidity. I think there might be donation info in the article at the end.

Family hopes cat's tale warms hearts
FROZEN KITTY:A Superior Township family asks for donations to save the life of "Popsie," who survived a deep freeze.

As 8-year-old Kimberly Dolson waited for the school bus in Bennett on what was one of the coldest days in recent memory, she heard what she described as a horrible sound coming from a snowbank.

A lost calico kitty was meowing, loudly, near the end of her driveway, she said. With temperatures of more than 20 below, her fur had frozen to the ground and her claws were permanently extended into the snow.

"She was frozen stiff, like a Popsicle," said Cheri Dolson, who could hear the cat's wails from inside the house as Kimberly carried it down the drive. "That's why we named her Popsie."

Cheri Dolson wrapped Popsie in a blanket and set her under the dryer vent to thaw out. "She was stiff until 3 p.m.," she said.

The cat lost the tips of her ears, peeled her paw pads and broke her tail. But she survived.

Dolson's friends and Popsie's new owners, Candi Soles and her partner, Jacki Hietala, of Superior Township, want to make sure she continues to live. To Kimberly's chagrin, the Dolsons couldn't keep the cat because her father is allergic to felines.

So here's the rub: Hietala and Soles are unemployed and can't pay the $455.40 it would take to amputate the infected tail and save Popsie's life again. The procedure must be done next week, and money must come up front, they said.
