The mean cat is home from the vet
She was treated for pyrometria, and spayed, right now she's hiding out, but that's okay we'll give all the time she needs to adjust.
the other cats that she's been tormenting were thinking she was gone for good and reestablishing territory, but no, here she came back.
I like this little cat, she snuggles up to the momma cat, and protects her back from one of the phycho kitties that would ambush her as she walked through the house.

We have to give her antibiotics, but they're liquid and it should'nt be that difficult to fill the dropper and squirt it down her. So, she came through okay, and hopefully will have a long life with us.

1. Yay!
Maybe she will calm down now that her medical and hormonal issues are resolved and she is feeling better. And by the way, if you can't squirt the antibiotic in her mouth, try putting it in some tasty food.

2. liquid VS pills
earlier this fall our grand-dame of the house (18-19 yr old cat) came down with a sinus cold.

the first round of meds were liquid -- fairly easy to dose her with that

then the sinus cold came back -- the vet gave us a choice of trying another round of the liquid, or going to a stronger anti-biotic that only came in pill form

while my partner and I were discussing the pros and cons of liquid vs pill -- the vet said "so you want to try the liquid again?"

the cat, sitting on the examining table, quite clearly said "Nooooo"

we went with the pills -- and administered them by crushing them up into her food and feeding her in a seperate area... worked well

she is also on thyroid meds - pills, twice a day -- these are also crushed up into her food

3. She does'nt like it at all
she's getting wary of climbing into my lap, especially when she sees marshmallow coming. We may have to try to put it her food before all is over and done.
Hows the kitty? over the cold I hope.

5. over the cold
but gets congested again when we run the wood stove -- vet now thinks it's an allergy thing to the wood burning... or the dry heat put off by the wood stove

soooo, we run a humidifier in addition to pots of water on the wood stove, and also take the cat into the bathroom when we shower -- the steam put off by the shower helps clear up her head

4. We were trying to poke capsules down our daughter's pit bull mix
-- two capsules twice a day! Well, he quickly made it clear that he was NOT going to unclamp that jaw and we had to question the wisdom of trying! So we just started opening them and sprinkling them on his food. We give him dry kibble and add water and he eats it all in one sitting. As horrible as those things smell, he still eats it all!

Our dachshund has to have thyroid medication twice a day, too. It comes in chewable form but sometimes all the vet has is the little pills. For weeks, we were inserting them into a piece of cheese; then one day, we found that if we just throw them into his food, he eats them anyway! :silly:
