The perfect adoption (with pics)
Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 12:28 AM by Lorien
About six months ago I fostered little Khephra, Isis and Osiris. Isis and Osiris were adopted together, but I had a tough time finding a home for sweet Khephra (who was named after DU's late Khephra, who also had a gentle spirit). At long last a 16 year old girl named Heather wrote to me through Petfinder. She wanted to adopt Isis, Kef's sister, but Isis had already been adopted. I sent her Kef's photos and it was love at first sight. She had been BEGGING her family for a kitty since age two, and they had finally agreed to let her have one (she has two other siblings who are also animal lovers). So, one afternoon she and her family drove all the way to Orlando from the space coast to meet Khephra; their first family pet. Heather cried when she saw him, and he just melted into her arms, knowing that she was his. She must have emailed me 45 times or more asking for pet advice. Her dad bought every single product for Khephra that I suggested. Kef became one spoiled kitty!

Last week they followed my last suggestion, which was to get Khephra a kitty pal of his own. Now he has another Isis in his life! She looks just like him-and his sister of the same name. Heather was nervous about the introduction, but I sent her Newsguyatl's "the introduction in progress" (his photo journal of Nikko and Jesse's intro: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph... ) and it helped to put her and ease. Now, as you can see, Khephra is perfectly content. I may have had to keep Kef longer than any other foster, but his wait was worth it. Our own Kef must be watching over for his namesake.

Khephra:

I had him for several months, and he grew up a lot in that short time:

1. It must bring such joy to your heart to see your baby in such a happy
place!!! Such great pics.
Keph was such a gorgeous baby..and he sure looks happy in his new home. Just love the baseball pic!!

It was so nice of Heather to name his new sister Isis...

The picture of them curled together on the couch is priceless...very reminiscent of Nikko and Jesse.
Obviously Heather was worth waiting for.

Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful ending.

PS Isn't it a riot how they all try to squeeze into shoe boxes!!!?????

2. What a great story!
You gave Keph such a wonderful start and showed him how it would be with a nice family he could love. Now he has the perfect family and you have the knowledge that you gave him time to find them.

Incidentally, Heather really has talent taking pictures. The collage was very nice. Ask her to send more for us in the future.

4. I will!
I'll have to encourage her to send some to those page-a-day calender companies, too. She's sent me some pretty cute ones over the months. :-)

13. Please consider fostering!
You'd make a WONDERFUL foster mom,and rescues need foster parents more than they need funds!
