Dell laptop cursor jumps around when typing text
The focus of my cursor on my Dell laptop will often jump to the another spot on the screen when I am in the middle of typing a sentence. I cannot get through typing two sentences without this issue of jumping around happening. This happens when I am typing text in any program. Is there any way to fix this?
Model
Dell Latitude D620

1. Are you accidentally
touching the mousepad as you type. One of the problems with those touch sensitive pads is that they are extremely touchy.

2. I bet your thumb is
brushing against the touchpad and you don't even notice it. Try putting several sheets of paper, like post-it notes, over the pad so it's blocked from sensing anything, and try typing. If you don't have a problem doing that, then it's definitely some part of your hand. Fiddle with the touchpad options in Control Panel and see if there's a Mouse setting tab called 'Tapping,' and if there's a checkbox that says "Disable while typing."
