Arghhh! Mirar Toolbar Hell - How do I get rid of
the satanic thing?

I tried to search on google and I am just too technically retarded to figure it out - advice was very technical in nature. I would be much obliged if someone could give me some easy-to-understand help. Pretend I am 5 years old.

I don't know how it happened. I also have annoying little gray pop up windows that ask me to download Windows XP cleaner to get rid of it. But I tried it and nothing happened. :argh: :banghead:

Thank you!

1. no expert but ...

here's a website with an automatic tool you can download that claims to be able to rid your machine of the Mirar Toolbar: http://www.spywareremove.com/removeMirar_Toolbar.html

be careful just downloading and running things ... sometimes things that are advertised as fixes are actually just viruses ... you might want to google Mirar to find a site you trust ...

but a much better plan is to give Firefox a try ... this is the perfect time to do it ... you can get yourself a nice, free copy right here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

firefox will take you about one minute to learn (it's almost identical to IE) but it's much less prone to viruses and spyware and it includes a number of really nice features that IE doesn't have ... you can even import your IE bookmarks ...

if i were in your situation, i would download and use Firefox right now and would work on repairing IE at your convenience ...

3. Here is how
Please follow these steps:
First run your anti-virus program.
Install both of these free programs
Spybot S&D...http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
Ad-Aware SE....http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
Make sure after you install these you also install all updates.
Run both programs and delete the bad stuff they find.
Install CCleaner...http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run it but don't clean the "ISSUES" area of the program unless you know what you are doing.
Install Spywareblaster....http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html
and update.
Install CWshredder..http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html
run this program to remove CoolWebSearch
Now go here and download HJT...http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Once Hijackthis is installed "DO NOT RUN THIS PROGRAM"until you have professional help.
Go here to get this help...http://castlecops.com/forums.html sign up and tell them what you have installed and what you have run for programs this far.
You have already made one of the best decisions by installing FireFox but you still have garbage on your computer. If you follow these steps you will have your computer back to normal.

5. Wow. Never seen a clearer answer. I learned it by myself ,
But I was missing a couple of steps, at the end mostly.

Thank you berserker.

I have issues about Mozilla. I can't use it everywhere I go and I find it a nuisance to switch between IE and MZ.

The solution: I know I should learn/and teach more about MZ.
