DU tech problem
I emailed Elad and tried his suggestions but they didn't work. Maybe someone here has had the same problem.

Problem: When I click on a link I get a DU logo in the upper left corner but the rest of the screen is blank. Elad suggested clearing internet files (I do this daily anyway), clearing the browser's cache (I wasn't doing that very often, so now I do), scanning for spyware or viruses (have up-to-date software and do scan for both). Most links open but an unacceptable number do not- maybe one in ten don't open.

Has anyone else had this happen. If so, how'd you fix the problem? Thanks in advance for ideas! :)

1. Just the one site?
Some info about your operating environment would be good, too.

2. Yes, just DU...
...it just happened- the fourth link I tried to open this morning- nothing. I have tried waiting but it isn't just slow- it simply never comes up. This started happening about two weeks ago. As I type this, I'm checking for IE updates since Elad seemed to think this could be related to the browser. (BTW, in case it is not obvious, I am not tech savvy- if I say anything dumb just correct me, please- I'm well aware of my limits in this area).

The computer runs windows XP Professional, I use IE, and McAfee Internet Security Suite is installed and updated. I have a dial-up connection but use Callwave Accelerator so it isn't as slow as some dial-up. Have I left out anything important?

If I must, I'll contact Elad again but I was hoping that someone here might know something about this problem. Thank you for responding.

3. I'm with Elad, I'd try a different browser.
Could be the McAfee too, but I'd try the browser first. I have seen such issues with certain sites, and I have seen the problem go away, either by using IE instead, or by switching from IE to something else. I currently use Mozilla and/or Firefox and don't have this sort of trouble. I'd recommend a current Mozilla version for you, although it will require some effort to install and learn to use.

...and switched back to IE. You know about old dogs and new tricks :). Thanks for the answer.

Edited because I misread bemildred's post.
