When I changed to DSL, I kept my old yahoo address and added a
new SBC address. The problem is I have to sign in everytime to get to either of the e-mails and I have to sign out of SBC every time I want to go back to my original yahoo address. I am using Mozilla Firefox as my explorer. I am sure there is some secret to this that I don't have a clue to so I am hoping one of you brains can help.

1. What are you using for email?
Either download Thunderbird or Mozilla and set it up for your email.

2. I want to keep my orginal yahoo e-mail address which I have had for
several years and although the sbc yahoo address is fairly new, I do not want to have to change addresses again. Can I use Mozilla without changing addresses?

3. I use Outlook and
my yahoo mail is the one I use there. I also have a gmail account and it is sent to yahoo and in turn sent to Outlook so it appears all together. You can probably sent it up the same with Mozilla, someone else here would know that better.

4. Yes
You just have to set up an email account in mozilla with the POP3 and SMTP settings. With SBC/Yahoo it should be pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com. If you have problems PM me and I'll try to help'

5. Well, I already use mozilla for both accounts. I just cannot get on
without having to constantly login and then logout and relogin. It gets really OLD! But I will recheck the settings and see if they are set up properly. Mainly I did not and do not want to combine the accounts and therein seems to lie the problem. BTW, forgot to say thanks for the help.

6. When it asks for the password
did you check the box that says "Remember Password"? Are you on Dial-up or DSL? On DSL you shouldn't have to log on every time you get online. You shouldn't have to combine accounts-Mozilla lets you keep separate accounts in the email. I have 5 different ones that I use on it and all I have to do is open the mail/newsgroups window and select each accunt in turn to retrieve my mail.

7. DSL and I always check "remember password". I have to do the
complete login everytime. Something is just not right and it may be in how I set things up when I went ot DSL. I never have to do this with my hotmail account only with the yahoo accounts. Thanks for taking the time to try to help me figure this out. It is just so annoying and time consuming.

8. Are you
going to the sbc.yahoo page to get your mail? If you are that's the problem-you have to sign in every time when you do that. It also will only have one account login at a time that way so if you want to check your other box you have to log off with one user name and log back on with the other-it's a hassle that way.

10. How setup email in Mozilla
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 11:59 AM by hobbit709
1. at the top toolbar go to Window-select mail and newsgroups.
It will ask if you want to set up an account.
Follow the steps
The POP for SBC DSL should be pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
The SMTP should be smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
unless you had a previous dialup-mine is still swbell instead of sbcglobal.

Do you have a regular free Yahoo mail account or the premium one?
The free one you can't forward to anywhere, the premium one you can.
I have a free account so I have to log on at Yahoo to check it. But I have set up several SBC mailboxes-you're allowed up to 10 boxes-these can be accessed through Mozilla mail settings.

If you have problems PM me with your phone number and I'll call-I have unlimited long distance if you're not here in Austin.

11. Well, everything was set up properly, except that some logon box
was not checked when I went to check properties. As to my orginal yahoo address, I guess it is only available by logging in on line. But the main problem has been solved and I thank you very much.
