My CD-R and DVD ROM wont work.!!! cant install drivers..

I got a mysterious download of Word Perfect that wouldn't stop and wouldn't load.. i clicked on it a bazillion times and got it off the screen.. it came back and did the same thing.. i got it off and deleted the propram..

then things wouldn't work.. i ran Norton One Step.. in windows registry i got like 980 errors in 2 areas.. seems it was related to the word perfect..

so when i try to play Crimson Skies CZ.. no disk !!! I go to My Computer and no hardware or drives to use CD/DVDs

SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-248 and IDE-DVD ROM16X

In Systems Tools the Hardware 'string' had yellow exclamation marks by the 2 fore mentioned units.. with 'Error 39' on both units.

i went to the Samsung Download site and couldn't download the driver.. I couldn't upgrade nor roll back the drivers..

I have a Compaq Preserio 2.6 mHz..248MB Celleron R

and where did it come from. I've been using Wordperfect since version 4.1 for DOS and never had it do anything to me.
