I am locked out of my YouTube account now that there is Google involved.

Apparently I am not the only one that this is happening to.

I have jumped through hoop after hoop trying to get into my old YouTube account that has all my years of PM messages and my list of "Faves."

And also all these people are locked out as well: -

I created my account two years ago and cannot access it now. When I go to YouTube and enter my credentials as I always did, they are rejected. Even though I KNOW THEY'RE CORRECT, I've tried entering every username and password combination I can think of, and still I can't log in.

So I request my password by clicking "Can't access your account?" below the login fields. Under "forgot password," I enter my user name and I get a confirmation saying my info has been sent to my email associated with my YouTube account, yet I never receive the email with my credentials after trying this over a literally 100 times or more in the last three months. I've even checked every other email account I have (although I know for a fact the email I'm checking is the one associated with my YouTube account) and there is nothing there.

So, I take the second option on the right and enter my email under the "Forgot username" section. When I do this, it simply takes it to my GOOGLE ACCOUNT INSTEAD OF MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT!! Since Google and YouTube have gone the idiotic route of linking these accounts, I figured this must be the problem, and I've tried the "linking Youtube accounts to my Google account" at...

But the help section YouTube offers and the instructions are totally incorrect. It says "4. Sign in with your Google Account email & password." Then it says "1. Enter your YouTube username and password on the left hand side of the next page." BUT, THERE IS NO PLACE TO ENTER THIS ON THE NEXT PAGE THAT'S DISPLAYED, IT SIMPLY TAKES ME TO MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT PAGE AND THERE ARE NO FIELDS ON THE LEFT HAND OF THIS PAGE OR ANYWHERE ELSE!


I don't know, but in short, my YouTube Channel is www.youtube.com/claytonrains. My email address I use (which always was the username too) is ____.___com and I can't access my own channel no matter what I've tried. Can anyone help, because I've contacted YouTube and Google numerous times and they NEVER RESPOND?!? (Truedelphi: I edited out mr rains email so he doesn't get spammed.)

I'm locked out of my Spectres account. I did EVERYTHING you did!!! So frustrating. I went one step further and actually signed up at google and made an account for Spectres1.

For some reason I got signed out on YouTube...the next day I couldn't sign in. I tried every password that I normally use eventhough I knew what it was. I then hit "forgot password." For me, I DID get an e-mail. I changed my password but then it never worked. The linking of YouTube and Google together is the shits. Very confusing and very silly how they link them together.

NOW, when I try the "forgot password" for my Spectres account...I NEVER RECEIVE AN E-MAIL.

Of course nobody from YouTube will ever fix this problem...so it looks like we're locked out of our accounts for good.

Clay: You do not have the correct password for the account, and although you are certain which e-mail address you WOULD have used, that account does not have that address on file (or you have not completed the steps in the link I included below).

Without either the password OR access to the e-mail account on file you cannot be given access to the account. Essentially, all you know for certain is the username, and as that can be seen by everyone it cannot be used to grant access to an account.

There's been so little activity on the account if you just opened another you wouldn't be losing anything but the exact username you'd prefer.

I'm having the same problem, and the proposed fixes dont work! I kleep getting looped, with little to no assurance that I'm even looping around the right track. Ive trie setting up another account, but run into all sorts of interloops w/google. I never get the promised emails from Help. I have repeated these attempts many times, and am just about ready to give up.I cant find a way to communicate directly w/youtube. what goes on?

I am so incredibly fed up with youtube + google, I'm about to scream.

I've tried to login so many times, I tried the forgot password option....absolutely nothing works.

You would think that companies have the sense to treat users well, especially if they signed up 4 years ago.

I have figured out this problem! I have it too, It sucks. Google obviously didn't think this one through very well...

When you created your Youtube account, say you named it "coolstuff". Someone else had a google account and it was also named "coolstuff". When Google decided to link Youtube and Google accounts, you can now log into Youtube with your Google user name. Well, now when you try and log in, youtube thinks your using the Google account name "coolstuff", this is not yoyour account. The guy with the "coolstuff" Google account linked his account to his Youtube account. This has created 2 separate logins using the same user name on Youtube.

The only way for you to access your Youtube account is if the guy with the google account of the same user name unlinks his accounts. Let me know if anyone has any better solutions...

You're on the right track thisandthis2000. Now mix that up with different passwords for those accounts: "Your password is incorrect!" No, it's not, it's just not the right password for SOMEBODY ELSE'S ACCOUNT ON ANOTHER GOOGLE PRODUCT ACCOUNT THAT I DO NOT OWN! <facepalm>

Someones Google account takes presence over the your Youtube account...

Is there a way for Youtube fix this without disabling all linked accounts? This seems like it could be a major problem.

This would be my solution:
When loging into Youtube, I think using a login such as "someguy" should default to loging you into Youtube only. When using a login such as "[e-mail]", it logs you in in using the linked account feature. So a login without ".gmail".com doesn't log you into a linked account. I think this would resolve the problem.

This has happens to 2 of my Youtube accounts. One using the same name as my email account (I fixed this by unlinking youtube), and another with the same email account name as someone in Turkey. (um what am I supposed to do, email the guy and tell him to unlink his accounts?)

This is a poor practice for such a large company, all because Google wants control of everything. I like Google's Innovations, but I'm really starting to reconsider...

One more reason why I would never trust Google for a cloud based operating system.

PAG: Could it really be that easy?

Technically you shouldn't use the same password in several places, but ... that sounds like the right solution at this point in time for this particular problem.

I had the same type of problem. When I was unable to sign in I selected the 'cannot access my account' option and entered my username to have an email sent to me to reset my password, I never received an email. When I typed in my email address, it told me my address was not in the system. After trying to sign on and do everything I thought I could for about a week, I stopped and settled down and tried a couple days later. I entered my username and an email was finally sent to my email address so that I could reset my password. Maybe after trying so hard to sign in, youtube froze my account thinking someone was trying to hack in to it, or maybe I just lucked out. Good luck everybody.

Holy cow, I think you've hit on something there. Lot's of people get frustrated saying they've repeatedly tried everything over and over and over again. Well, that may very well BE the problem! Thanks for the idea.

IT SOUND LIKE EVERYONES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND NOT GETTING ANY HELP FROM YOUTUBE OR GOOGLE. THEY ARE SREWING UP EVERYONES ACCOUNTS AND NOT SENDING ANYONE AN EMAIL TO HELP THEM GET NEW PASSWORDS OR IF THEY DO THE PASSWORD DOESN'T WORK WHEN YOU GO TO USE IT. I HAD TO GET AN NEW PASSWORD THE OTHER DAY IT TOOK A WHILE FOR THEM TO EMAIL ME SO I COULD GET A NEW PASSWORD. NOW THAT ONE DOESN'T WORK SO I ASK FOR A NEW PASSWORD AGAIN WITH MY USERNAME BUT 2 HOURS LATER AND NO EMAIL. IF THIS JOB IS TO HARD FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES IT'S TIME TO GET NEWS ONES THAT WANT TO WORK I'M SURE THERE ARE A LOR PEOPLE THAT WOULD BE HAPPY TO DO THIS JOB.

I cannot sign in to my YouTube account as well. When I try to sign in it says my account is permanently disabled. However, when I try to create a new account with the same e-mail address, it says my google account has been linked to the username which it was saying disabled.

No way to solve this issue.

Google or YouTube please help me!

I am not able to access my Youtube account. I can login using google account, but it asks me if I can add you tube account. When I enter my youtube credentials, it says 'Sorry, your login was incorrect'. When I request 'forgot password', I get an email with oneliner 'Since you sign in to YouTube through Google, you need to change password there'.
It looks to me like a circular reference, it does not let me add my youtube account to google and does not let me access youtube directly.
Not sure what my options are.

I get exactly the same problem, kommeraravi. I try logging in with my email, and then it asks me if I already have a youtube account. I do, but it says, "sorry your login was incorrect". When I put in my email to have my username sent to me, all it does is send me the link to reset my password. Bloody Google is becoming as evil as Microsoft and Apple combined. I can't stand how it exploits YouTube's popularity to squeeze honest users.

I can't access my youtube either. I have tried everything. And I am sure that I know my password and user in my dreams. But for some reason it says "user incorrect" and I clicked the "I can't access my account" and I still haven't gotten that email from google or youtube. I have asked all of the people I know that have an email, they tell me what to do, but it doesn't help me in the least bit. HELP ME!!

Same here,can't access my account....I use it to advertise our karate school for our members .
We just started 2 month ago and all those hours of work go down the drain soo frustrating. I signed up with metcafe instaed and am starting a new one.
Anyone has a solution for recovery of the account?

I keep getting the reminder to my hotmail account to change my password that says go to Google to change your password there.........but there is no Youtube product in my Google!

That when and if I do figure out how to resolve it, I might be told that the Powers that Be at Google have scratched out my YouTube account since I haven't accessed it in so long. (!?!&D&$#@)

The irony is I had a much more minor problem with Google back in 2004, and mentioning my frustration to some Office Manager at Google headquarters got me landed into the lap (Phone wise speaking) of Mr Eric Schmidt.

I am going to call Google tomorrow - who knows, maybe I will get Schmidt again. He is a delight to talk to, but Google was much smaller then.
