My home PC hasn't wanted to download videos in a long time. It
used to do it just fine. Sigh.

When I scroll over a video on a page a little bar (realplayer) should pop up so I can just click it to download. It doesn't do that anymore. On my laptop at work it does it and I know how that works.

I have tried reinstalling Realplayer but that doesn't help. I think it is some sort of setting on my PC control panel somewhere that got out of whack but I don't know where to start to fix it.

My office internet is down (switching to TWC and they are footdragging) so I will check back here tonight.

Thanks in advance, guys!

2. Some time ago
I read that many websites are no longer supporting Real Player. Unfortunately can't remember the source or the context in which I read this.

Real player has been known for years as a less than ideal program, you can read a review here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/125772-2/the_25_worst_tech_products_of_all_time.html#real

One solution is to download and install the K Lite Mega codec pack. This will enable you to watch and listen to just about any media on the internet including Real, Quicktime and Windows Media formats easily, using the workhorse Media Player Classic. It does this by installing Real and Quicktime alternatives. Get it here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

Because Real Player is so invasive, I would recommend complete removal before installation of KLite codecs. There are detailed removal instructions here: http://www.joemanna.com/blog/how-to-uninstall-realplayer/ If you don't wish to go through these steps, download Revo Uninstaller (free) and remove Real Player in Advanced mode, which will clean up most of the files it leaves behind.

5. My only advice is to stop using Realplayer.
I had no idea they were even in business any more. There are much much much much much better options out there these days. Yes, they were one of the first, but they definitely are not one of the best.
