Help with Microsoft security essentials
It "updates" and and freezes up my computer every morning at 9. Even though I schedule a full scan at 11 pm every night and checked off "check for updates" at the same time. WTF? It's times like these I wish I had Gates standing in front of me. UGH! Am I doing something wrong?

1. I don't use it
but you could look in your Control Panel, Scheduled Tasks and see if there is anything you could turn off.

2. Are you scheduling the update at the same time as the scan? Why? Why not schedule them
at slightly different times?

3. Couple of questions
Edited on Mon Oct-25-10 07:25 PM by Earth Bound Misfit
What anti-virus (if any) was installed before you installed MSE and how did you uninstall it before you installed MSE?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)? If so, did you uninstall it and how did you uninstall it?

Do you have a third party firewall installed? IIRC, some don't play "nice" w/MSE (particularly Zone Alarm).

4. Thank you
Good info....Norton, many moons ago. I will check to see if it is completely gone and will check the firewall as well. Thank you again
