How do you set WordPad to in future launch with your own preferred default font size?
For example, what if for a few months you want to be able to start WordPad running and have the default font size be 9, 12, or 14 instead of 10. How do you select the font size default that you want and modify some settings so that it will open a new, blank document with your chosen default font size?

1. I don't think you can
Need to set it manually with each new document.

2. Does OpenOffice, or another open source office suite, include a small, basic-function
text editor like WordPad, but with the option of customizing the default font size?

3. The notepad replacement I use
Can set a default custom font and size. Although it is lacking many basic word processing features, there is a lot of handy stuff in there.

4. AbiWord is good alternative to WordPad

OpenOffice is really more of an MSOffice replacement in that it's a full-featured suite of applications.
