Windows 7 problems -repair/reinstall??
So my son's laptop had a hard drive issues and the drive was replaced. I bought a copy of Windows 7 and the "geeks" at best buy installed it when they replaced the hard drive.
Since then, the laptop is very quirky, spontaneous reboots, programs that install everytime you want to use them instead of just opening. A lot of minor, but annoying things.
So as with other Micrsoft products, I figured I would just insert the disc, and do the repair function and hopefully get things in proper working order.
Well, it never gave me that option, it seemed like it just wanted to reinstall the whole OS.
So I guess my question is, am I missing that option somewhere, or just didn't go far enough?
Thanks

1. I'm not exactly sure how it works in Windows 7, but in XP

doing a repair install LOOKS exactly like a regular install until you get a few pages in. It looks from this tutorial like the same may be the case for Windows 7.

Might be worth a look:

And I think I found that page too. Either I didn't scroll or the damn thing didn't load completely.
I'll give it a whirl.

3. Lesson One: Avoid "Geek Squad"
I've yet to hear of anyone with a positive experience with them.

6. If geek squad had anything to do with it
I would wipe and reinstall just to be safe and make sure it works.
