Sorry, I really need some simple help here
Guys, I need to find out how to display the headers in my email as I'm getting some nasty mail and want to bust this person.

I have firefox and also IE. Remember when the default was to display? It's not any more and I can't find the menu to change it to display.

I need to track this mail asap.

Any help for the tech impaired would be much appreciated.

thanks, Beth

2. CTRL-U

In Firefox, you can view the source of any individual message by highlighting it and pressing CTRL-U. It essentially works the same as the previous suggestion, but you do it on the fly and don't have to set and reset how you view messages most of the time.

If the message has HTML coding, it also shows that rather than the effects of it.

5. Why, thank you. I'm in a crunch and it strikes me that
email clients are trying to keep us stupid as possible.

Thank you all again. I was able to get it handled.

best to you,
Beth

6. For future reference ...

I use an extension for Thunderbird call Mnenhy.

http://mnenhy.mozdev.org/

It does a lot of things that give you more control over mail and news, but in particular it allows you to choose what headers you want always displayed. (The "view all headers" options gets a little cluttered.) I use it specifically for reading Usenet because I like to see the Posting Host and References headers, but you can configure it any way you like. It also gives you more control over the headers you send with your messages.
