A bit off topic: How to download videos?

Putting aside copyright issues, how does one, technically, download videos from YouTube and news sites and such?

1. If you use Firefox

you can get the extension "Downloadhelper" that makes it very easy. There are other programs/extensions also but I find that one very easy.

I do use Firefox but I really haven't used extensions yet, and many believe that is what makes Firefox so great.

3. another vote for download helper

I started using it years ago when I got frustrated that YouTube would sometimes remove videos I wanted to watch again.
