I can't send email attachments anymore
I don't know why, but starting about a week ago, every time I try to send an email containing an attachment - regardless of how large or small the file is - the email goes to my outbox and stays there till I finally delete it, because the second I click Send, I get disconnected from my email service. I can send other emails just fine, and I can receive and open all kinds of emails, including those with attachments.

I use Windows Live Mail, which routed from Hotmail. I called MSN a while ago and got no help. I was told to contact AVG, my anti-virus/firewall program, where I was told the problem is probably with MSN.

Anyone have any ideas of what the problem could be?

I ran ScanDisc, Defrag, deleted a bunch of stuff from my email folders and other places, emptied the trash bin, and then I rebooted. It made no difference.

I'd appreciate suggestions on what to try next. Thanks. :-)

1. There are several layers to this problem. One of which could be your ISP may have a size limit on
attachments or your ISP may be sensing an infected file, etc. Also you can try another mail program such as ThunderBird to try and pin down the problem. I would avoid using Outlook Express. It doesn't have to be forever just for testing.

It also sounds like you are using webmail which means somebody else server and software. Since you called you know the answer you got.

Also some ISP have restrictions on the extensions of attachments (example exe files) and some antivirus software will block certain extensions also and if it thinks it is an infected file.

2. Thanks :-)
I don't use Outlook Express. I use Windows Live Mail, which is routed from Hotmail. I have my own Internet and email account with MSN and this is the only computer on it.

MSN claims it'll send attachments up to 10 MB. The ones I try to send are much smaller, around 600 KB or so. All the file attachments I try to send are JPEG.

Maybe I will turn off my AVG firewall temporarily, long enough to see if I can send an attachment with the firewall disabled.

Thanks for your ideas. I will try ThunderBird!
