I have some screens I need to grab, but what happened to my add-on?
I have Firefox 3.5.5 installed. I had been using the Screengrab add-on quite nicely, but now for some reason, I can't. I tried uninstalling it, re-installing it, and starting Firefox again. It appears to be there, but how do I get it active? I miss it being doing there in the lower right. :(

1. Is it grayed out ...

You're unable to click the Enable/Disable buttons?

Is the little Screengrab icon showing in the lower right part of the FF window frame?

When you uninstalled it, I'm assuming you then restarted FF then installed and restarted again.

If you did all that, I'll say for the moment that some people have reported random bugs with it since FF 3.5.5, but those may have existed before. I was trying to see if an incompatibility developed with the new FF version, but the random nature of it doesn't point to anything specific.

Have you installed or upgraded any other extensions recently, or have you installed/uninstalled Java lately?

Lots of questions and no answers, I know. These extension problems can be weird. I'm using Screengrab, and it's working fine here it seems.

3. I'm able to click the Enable/Disable buttons
No Screengrab icon in the corner. I did everything that you said, haven't upgraded or installed any other extensions lately, no to Java . . . I guess it's just a weird thing and I will take PokerFan's advice for now.

But thank you Roy! :hi:

2. Try pagesaver
http://pearlcrescent.com/products/pagesaver

I know that doesn't solve your screengrab problem but if you need to grab some screens now...

I've been using pagesaver for years.

5. Glad you found a solution ...

One, odd thing that comes to mind with the Screengrab problem might involve the Theme. Extension icons and themes interact strangely sometimes.

If you like Pagesaver, though, I'd go with that for the time being. Solving the screengrab problem may involve creating a new profile and/or screwing around with obscure things.

6. Well I'll be, the Screengrab option is now appearing when I right click
I was right-clicking to save an image, and appearing as one of the options was Screengrab! But I am holding on to the pagesaver, and of course I always have the Snipping Tool option to save part of a page.

7. I don't understand why you need a program for a screen grab when
there is a button on your keyboard that does the same thing.

8. Won't grab the portion scrolled offscreen, though
Whenever I've used screengrabbers, that was the reason.

9. Example (dialup warning) ...

What you get with PrintScreen:

With ScreenGrab:

Plus I had to edit the one with PrintScreen to cut out the rest of the desktop. Of course I edited both of them to cut down the size, but you get the point.

11. If you have Windows 7, try the Snipping Tool
Works great to snip all or parts of any screen.
