WTF IS THIS? Virus?
Edited on Sat Oct-24-09 05:28 PM by Capn Sunshine
My wifes laptop, Dell Inspiron 8100. Windows 2000 pro and IE 6. Its making this sound which I can only describe as like a Sparkletts Cooler, bubbling with reverb. There seems to be performance issues with the browser (long page downloads, page not available) Wife says it's been like this "for a while" So far, ran the Smitfraud suite . Nada. Malwarebytes, nothing.

Anyone heard of this?

1. Hmmmm I have a suggestion
I have been testing Microsoft Security Suite, and it's free, and it WORKS well, and is compatible with Malwarebytes and AVG (so far). Try installing it and scanning, in my tests, It found THREE trojans I had planted that Norton and AVG DIDN'T find, and found one that The Cleaner didn't find. XofspySE found all three also, but costs $29 a year.

16. It's rather like a water cooler
know how every so often they bubble? Like that, and very similar in sound except for the reverb/echo.

18. I think I figured it out!
I have Boingo wireless on this rig, and it has a check box on it "play connect and disconnect sounds" It's coincident with the wireless signal!
Never seen that before, but it's definitely it. I'm in the MBR which is pretty far from the router; it's the opposite end of the house from our offices and stuff. We Never use the puter in the Master, but I have been because I'm laid up.

Damn, that was strange.
