I have a Cisco Linksys modem and router. I tried to move the
modem to another computer, a new one, and something went wrong. I downloaded an updated driver from their website, and the installation doesn't seem to complete.
The final message is 'device not ready'. And no connection is made.
Is it the address? Did I not set up the address? If so, how can I fix it?

1. More information.
OS? What is generating the error message? If the driver doesn't complete install, it isn't going to work. What are the symptoms of it not completing?

2. It's Vista. Clicking on Control Panel after Start, then wireless network.
And it says device not ready and shows a red x.
We called Linksys and they said we had to download updated drivers, which didn't seem to work. We are thinking we have not put in the address of the modem.
Or maybe it's the address of the modem with the router?
My friend and I are now both thinking address wrong, as we just had that problem setting up the printer on the other new computer, and finally Brother told me to go to command, etc., and put in the right address of the printer, which, printing out a test print showed on the test print page.
But how can I do that on the modem, or is it the computer, or the router?
Thanks

3. Where I am going wrong is not the modem to the router, but
the 'satellite' to one of the computers that was set up in the system. Satellite modem, to an individual computer, but not a wall modem that then goes to the router. It's wireless. But won't connect to the router.

4. To get some help you will need to use the correct terms.
The device you are having problems with look for a model # and manufacturer.
