Anyone ever used Carbonite
..as a back up for a computer? I am tempted but unsure since it shows McCaffee at
the bottom of the site, McCaffee is a resource hog when used as an AV. Link here:
http://www.carbonite.com / Would appreciate any pros and cons from anyone that
knows anything about this program. Thanks for your help and thoughtfulness.

1. I wouldn't trust anyone elsewhere with my personal data.
Cheaper to get an external drive and backup my files. Use flash drives for really important stuff and burn CD/DVD's of everything as a secondary backup.

I want my data where I can access it when I want and no one else can see it-encrypted or otherwise.
What happens if your computer crashes and you forgot your password to access your storage.

My really important info will fit on a 512 Mb flash drive. Semi-important fits on about 4Gb. Everything else might be about 300 gigs-music and videos mostly but they can be recreated from other sources.
And anything I really don't want anyone to know about is locked up inside my skull.

2. Thanks so much Hobbit!
Must say I did think about someone else seeing my stuff, but you definitely made
a lot of sense, and enforced my doubts, that will end my thinking of carbonite.
Like you said an external drive is cheaper too. You are right, will use flash
drives and CD/DVD's as another backup. Most everything I don't want anyone to know is locked in my skull too. The reason I asked is because it's being advertised on the radio the last few weeks, and of course it sounds good, but I was wondering how they can store everyone's personal info without someone hacking it.
Thanks again Hobbit for taking the time to answer me, that is totally out of the picture for me now with your input.
