How do I get my computer to operate the way it did 3 days ago
A summer guest used my computer and in turning it off, he allowed for the "Updates" from Microsoft to get downloaded.

Now wherever I go on the internet, I get a plug and play, automatically generated data box that holds up everything. Sometimes it makes itself seen, and then I can see it wants me to answer "If I want to copy from this part of the internet" Yes or No. But often it takes five minutes before it lets me see the data box and its question.

I know there is a way to go into Adminstration tools and get the computer to behave the way it did some several days back. This would fix the problem. Cannot remember exactly what to do though.

Any advice appreciated.

1. What operating system are you using?
If it is Vista (and I believe also XP), you can use System Restore to return your computer to an earlier date. It will restore your computer to the way it was on that date but will not affect your personal files like documents, pictures, etc.

2. System Restore, assuming you have it turned on
Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

(at least that's where it is in winxp)

4. That's it. Thanks!
I can get my life back now - that holdup by the new "microSoft Fix" was awful.

3. System Restore
as mentioned. But it will not 'un'-dowload files; and after some MS updates, it will not work at all. You may need to do more investigating.
