Ok, so maybe almost a month ago I upgraded to Flashplayer 10.something.something. and I kept getting error messages saying I needed to update...but that was what I had just done.

My Vista is running under the System32 (Don't ask me why Vista has 32 bit and 64 bit, I didn't do it)

So, it's like this... you've got to RUN THE INSTALL AS ADMINISTRATOR

Do this by finding the FlashUtil10b file.

I used the search function, it should be sitting in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash

Right click on the file and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR...following the install wizard requires one click, it's done before you can wipe your nose.

1. I have the definitive for Vista's problems.
Get Paragon Hard Disk Manager on a CD. Wipe Partition. Format partition. Install ANYTHING else.

Problem solved.

2. That's my cure for Vista too.
If I'm going to run Windows, then I run XP X64.

4. I can build a computer for 20% of what a Mac costs
And it will do what I want, allow me to modify, upgrade the hardware and use older software without any problems. I have a couple of DOS/Win3.1 apps that run quite well on XP X64. They might even run on Vista with some finagling but since I won't screw with Vista, I don't care.
I even have one old box that's still working with Win98SE on it. It's just collecting dust on the shelf but occasionally I need to do some creative disk copying.
There are 5 computers running in this house. One has Ubuntu, one Mandriva 2009, 2 with XP, and one with XP X64.

I have Ubuntu Studio on my Digital Audio Recorder setup. That's my toy.
Intel Atom330 mini ITX board, 2Gb RAM, M-Audio Delta 1010LT sound card, 8Gb SSD with a 40Gb notebook hard drive for writing data to. Whole thing fits in a case thats 12"x8½'x5½'. I can carry a complete 8-track recording setup in a shopping bag.
