Is anyone using google chrome?
Firefox is giving me grief. I'm not thrilled with the demo of the google chrome, but might just have to try it. Any experience?

1. I've been using it on my laptop
It works great usually, but often will hang up for no rhyme or reason.

3. Chrome is interesting. I've tried it on my kids' machines, and I like it.
My own favorite is Opera on Ubuntu or Debian. It is excellent on Windows too.

4. I Didn't Like Chrome At First...
but now use it almost exclusively. I like the performance and simplicity of the interface but the "Most visited" page when opening a new tab is nearly indispensable to me now. Chrome is not without faults though. Copy/paste issues, strange interface decisions and pages that simply do not render correctly with Chrome are a few. The thing that makes me fire up FF or IE the most though is the lack of a "send" function that allows me to e-mail pages and links to other people.

5. Hated it

No ad blocking or any extensions for that matter. You sign your life away with the install. :)

Btw, if you uninstall it, be prepared. It loads its updater into memory and only after several hours does the updater check and see that you've uninstalled the main application. Then it closes and you can delete the Chrome folder. A reboot would work too I guess. Had to google (lol) that info up as I was going nuts when I couldn't clean up what the uninstall left behind (locked files/folder).

And it leaves registry setting behind. Nightmare to safely get rid of those. Some folders too, I think, here and there on the hard drive.

Very beta.

Edit: "Google Chrome automatically updates to a newer version when one is released. The update process happens silently, whether or not you're using the browser at the time. If Google Chrome is open at the time of the update, you must close the browser and restart for the new version to launch." Not how I like my PC to work.

And I forgot to amplify on my "sign your life away" comment.

6. Thank you for reminding me to check and see if Chrome is up to date
one of the components of Spybot Search & Destroy, Teatimer or Spybot Search & Destroy Resident, detected the updater entries attempting to be made to my registry and I blocked them and asked it to remember that decision so it couldn't sneak in later.

So, my Chrome install cannot update in the background.
