Removing IE entirely... good idea or double-plus ungood?
I installed Firefox almost two weeks ago and I am using it exclusively with no issues (other than the re-installation of programs like Adobe, etc). I feel like cutting the cord to IE and uninstalling it. Is this a wise idea, or should I just leave it alone?

1. Best to leave it and just not use it
I set my firewall to block any attempts by IE to go online.

2. Thanks for the advice.
I have done the same, but it would feel sooooooooooo good to remove it. I will restrain myself.
:hi:

3. I'm pretty sure that the add/remove program in XP won't
work if IE is uninstalled. Seems I uninstalled and then couldn't get that program to work so had to reinstall. Of course, if you use another uninstall program then it might not matter.

6. I have Vista, even worse.
I miss XP... At any rate, it appears IE will just remain disabled and hidden for now. Thanks!

4. I'd leave it
You never know, at some stage you may just come across a site that you need to view in IE.

As a sort of trial separation you could try this:
-Open control panel/Add or Remove Programs
-On the left, click on 'Set Program Access and Defaults'
-Choose 'Custom' then click on the little downward arrows across from it

There you can set all your defaults and you need never know that OE or IE is even on your computer.

7. We must have been posting at same time
The instructions for Program Access & Defaults were for XP, so I have no clue at all where you would find them on Vista.

Googling found this http://www.vista4beginners.com/set-program-access-computer-defaults

Not calling you a beginner :)

8. Best just not use it,
since it is part of Windows.

It's really messed up when BIG Companies design (STILL in 2008) their web pages for Internet Explorer.

10. That pisses me off.

My local newspaper only works with Exploder. I'd go there more often but it is just not worth the trouble.

Seems like they would have someone on their staff who could clue them in and bring them up to date.

9. Not sure, but it might depend on your version of Windows. At time IE was inseparable from the OS
