AVG Anti-Virus and AVG Anti-Spy-ware question. A month ago,
I had to have professional work done on my machine. The computer person left AVG Anti-Virus(free ed) and installed a trial of AVG Anti-spy-wear 30 days. I was notified today that the time had expired and that I should buy the Anti-Spyware. Fine...Do you think I can find this particular thing to buy? I can't tell from their web site if I am buying the whole thing ot how to go about buying the spy-ware only. It is not even on MajorGeeks. Anyone use this combination? Virus free, spy-ware paid?

Just a puzzle, I e-mailed the computer chap but no answer yet. He told me not to install anything without hearing from me, see how skilled he must think I am? All day with no anti-Spy-ware. The Icon is still on my desktop but gone from the tray.

Thanks in advance.

1. Uninstall it
Download Spybot Search & Destroy-it's free. You can also get AdAware and Spywareblaster-both of which are free.

2. Ask your guy about Comodo
They are all free, and seem to be pretty good.

BOClean is the specific anti-malware one, but the firewall also has anti-spyware built in

http://www.comodo.com/boclean/boclean.html

Also, you could check out Advanced Windows Care, also freeware with built in anti-spy stuff

I know this doesn't answer your specific question, since I use AVG8 anti-virus, but not the anti-spy

Also, SuperAntiSpyware is good for scanning, in case you're really worried about having gotten something in the unprotected interval

Ditto for Spybot S&D

Good luck!

3. This is the web site
http://free.avg.com/

The new version 8 has both combined, the anti-virus and anti-spyware. There is a free and also a pay version which includes more protection. I had the paid version before the new one came out so mine is the more complete one but there have been problems with false positive results. I would be geting Avast or Nod if I didn't pay for this already.
I use Spybot Search and Destroy and Spywareblaster with AVG.

4. I use SUPERAntiSpyware (free) and Avast (also free)
But I hear that AVG is good antispyware. I like Avast cause you NEVER have to do
anything with it at all, nothing.

It updates itself and it works quietly in the background. It does not use up
alot of system resources.

SUPERAntiSpyware is awesome and cleans up most spyware, I may be wrong but I think
it does a better job than any other free spyware removal.

I have quit bothering with Adware so much, and I don't use SpyBot Search and Destroy so much either.

Good luck. I don't think you need to pay for any of these things unless you are really taking alot
of chances.

When I allowed my daughter to have instant messenger downloaded on the computer, we got
spyware all of the time, I was constantly cleaning it off.

But there's a website called Meebo or something that you can use to send instant messages without
downloading software.
