My computer is powering down for no apparent reason
I need some help. I have a 6 year old Dell desktop. Pentium 4 processor running Windows XP. The computer was working fine on Wednesday evening. Thursday morning I turned it on and it got to the Dell logo screen and turned itself off. Did did this repeatedly. The IT guy here at work says it may be the CR2302 battery. I'm going to pick one up tonight but if that doesn't work do any of you have further recommendations. I'm going to buy a new tower if I can't get this damn thing up and running by Monday. I appreciate any suggestions.
you might want to pull the cover off and check the heatsink on the CPU. it might stand some dusting too--just be careful and ground yourself when messing inside.
