What is the best version of Linux to use on a laptop?
I'm looking at SuSe because I have the Cds, but what I realy need is a linux diss. that will help me keep my battery alive longer.

1. Depends on so many things.... do a search for your laptop
model # and linux and see if someone else has done it.

That is what I did, and it saved me countless hours, skiping the mistakes already made.

Mine, a Dell Lattitude LOVES Knoppix.

Another one I did, a HP choked on it.

Go figure.

2. A friend swears by Gentoo
The installation is not as easy as some, but he really likes it on his ThinkPad.

A different -- and crazy -- friend of mine advocates Debian, but he has Issues.
