VirtualBox w/ Windows 7 Guest

Has anyone tried running Windows 7 as a guest in VirtualBox?

I can get the thing installed fine. Network connects, graphics are dog slow but usable for the most part. However, I can't get the audio to function regardless of the settings I use.

If you've tried this were you able to get audio working, or would you have any suggestions on what to try?

2. May the Penguin Bless You ...

It was the AC'97 driver update that was needed. This showed up as an "optional" update when Windows Update checked, and I rarely ever look at those, especially on a virtual machine.

Many thanks.

Now, to tackle this slow graphics problem ...

3. One of the things I've noticed about 7 is low audio volume.
Same machine with XP or Ubuntu has much higher audio levels out than 7. Even if you crank volume control to max.

4. I had that problem with XP too ...

I don't remember what I did to fix it, but it did get fixed.

The Windows 7 audio problem was mostly fixed by the Windows update to the sound driver. There is an occasional popping sound, but I haven't yet figured out what is taking place when it occurs. It seems random at the moment.

I still can't figure out the video. It acts like Windows acts when no graphics driver is installed other than the generic one. That's supposed to be solved by the VB extensions. It works in XP and Vista, but nothing improves with 7. While searching for a possible solution, I realized I wasn't seeing much commentary at all on the compatibility of Windows 7 with VirtualBox, which leads me to believe it's possible the extensions haven't been updated yet.

Not sure ...
