My kids, 4 and 6, were just playing a game that involved checking each other's voter registration cards. :rofl: Hope they aren't involved in caging or other forms of voter suppression!

1. Love it! Maybe you can start suggesting get out the vote activities!
Good for you. My mom was active in League of Women voters and I used to pretend I was organizing speakers and trips to the city council!

:rofl::thumbsup:

3. My daughter mentions Bush a lot
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 06:22 PM by OnionPatch
negatively, of course, although I always tell her to be nice. She also calls herself a liberal because I told her I was one! I tried to tell her she's too young to be political but she insists she's a liberal. (She's six.) Maybe your kids can get her registered! :rofl:

4. Never too young to be a liberal!
You can even teach her the secret handshake :) I think she is old enough to know.

My son is the funniest. When he was still really little and barely talking, during the 04 election cycle, I taught him to answer the question "what does W stand for?" and in his cutest little baby voice he would say "wong!" This was particularly adorable when we demonstrated our routine for the Bush lovin' inlaws.

Now when I am moving out the door to some political meeting or another he always asks me where I am going. My standard answer is "to save democracy, sweetie." He always asks "can I come, too?" :)

6. It's a delicate line I tread here
I leave out specific names; my 6 year old is starting kindergarten soon and it's pretty red here (Hasterturd country). So, I've taught him that we like the "blue team" and not the red team ("bad"). He knows that our president is the worst ever and started a bad war, but he doesn't mention Bush by name. Generally, I try not to make Repugs "bad" unless one is patently so (like Rove or Bush).

We're always talking about the primaries and he always wants to know who is a good guy and who's bad. So, in an effort to get him to understand that I don't like some candidates (like HRC), but that I will vote for him/her if they win, I've said it's like picking a leader of the Justice League. We wouldn't pick the Flash or Hawk Girl, but if either was chosen as the leader, then we would support them.
