We saw a pterodactyl yesterday.
At least according to my 4-year old son. To take advantage of the freakishly warm weather, we took the kids out for a little flat water kayaking yesterday. As we rounded the corner of the lake, a heron took off. My son says, wow, did you see that pterodactyl, mommy?

He has been talking about it all day today, too. So cute. I must remember to write this stuff down somewhere so I never forget how funny and sweet they are at this age.

1. Awesome!
The child's imagination and reality is so much broader than ours. My 6 yo grandson takes me on great adventures. Your son has a lot of insight.

2. that's so cute!
We still have a "piece of dinosaur backbone" (funny shaped rock, actually) that we found when hunting for dinosaur fossils when my son was about 4 yo. (He's 13 now.)

We had a backpack with "picks and brushes and shovels" - (screwdriver, paintbrushes, and garden trowel) and "testtubes", a "map" (handdrawn), a compass, some rags, and a picnic of course!

We went hiking in the local park and dug for dinosaur bones. It was so much fun - one of my fondest memories - which is why I've kept the darn rock so long, I guess. :)

3. my son used to shriek like one when he was little....
well, like they used to sound on Johnny Quest, anyway. We used to call him "pterodactyl boy" ;)
