RATS! My 9 year old's best friend is moving--he's a great kid
and the other kids nearby are not well supervised at all; in fact, one of them stole one of my son's new Gameboy games.

I swear, it's these things that are the hardest about being a parent--telling him that he can't play with the other kids, but I've got to for my son's sake.

Sigh.

1. My daughter seems to have a bad luck streak
with friends moving away. The sad thing is that we live far away from the rest of our family and she's an only child. Seems like everytime she makes a close friend, they move away. I'm not sure how to handle it either.

The one friend she has made at school that is still here has a pair of mentally unstable parents. They are going through divorce, suing each other, getting the cops called on them and now the dad is having to take "anger management" classes. :scared: That did it for me. I told my daughter that I liked her friend, she's a sweet girl, but her parents are "nutso" and I can't trust them being around her.

As far as the good friends moving away....I wish I had some advice on how to handle that. My daughter has gone through a lot of that lately.
