Ah, so, I have a 10 1/2 year old girl.
She has just recently started rolling her eyes a lot, bursting into sobs when we least expecting it, slamming her bedroom door a few times (that's not allowed), and insisting that I don't know anything.

When she was four, we were at the zoo and she told a total stranger I was the "smartest lady in the whole world!"

Now I apparently know very little. And she knows everything.

God help me. I think I need a support group. If this starts early, does that mean it ends earlier????

:scared:

and she does the very same things! I tell people she is already acting like a teenager, and I'm not ready.

She is having lots of problems, and yesterday her teacher told us she has many symptons of Asperger's Syndrome. I looked it up, and it's undeniably true. So, we are going to have her tested at some point.

If you want an online support group, I'm more than ready to be a part of it. I've wondered the same thing about it ending earlier, but I have this sinking suspicion it won't.

2. I have three daughters, and the behaviors you
describe is quite typical at her age.

One book that I've found that really helped with my parenting is, "Yes, Your Teen is Crazy - Loving Your Kid Without Losing Your Mind" by Michael Bradley. I highly recommend it.

Don't worry, your little girl will get over this behavior. It may take years, but she will. The end result is wonderful - speaking from experience :)

3. Yes, we need a support group. My oldest is 10 1/2, as well.
Between bras, her friends starting menses and the obsessive showering...I sometimes feel a bit bewildered. Alyssa has always be challenging but these tween years are shaping up to be UGLY!!!:scared:

Honestly? I think we're in for a long, hard road.

They have support groups for new moms, there should be one for moms of tweens. (Meetings should be held in a bar)
