So, my teens were 'too busy' to dye the Easter Eggs. I knew they would be disappointed if we didn't have our ritual house egghunt on Easter morning. When they want to go out with friends and I'm reminding them that we have to dye the eggs, the logic of missing the Easter Egg hunt doesn't work well. Our family has had a tough year and we really all need some family time and some happy occasions so I got the great idea to buy confetti eggs. They are wax eggs with confetti inside. You break them over someone's head for good luck. I hid them around the house with my husband telling me that I was crazy. I'm usually the clean freak.
Had a great egg hunt. Kids were reticent on the first few eggs. Then everyone let loose. We were all covered with confetti. My husband threw one or two against the wall and the kids followed suit. Confetti and wax were everywhere. My kids kept asking if I knew this would happen. Sort of. Then we started the clean up. Everyone helped. But an hour later there is still wax and confetti around. The worst is that the confetti stained the floors if it got wet before we got it. I really should have known better. ;-)
Funny thing is, I don't regret it. I probably would have limited it to one room if I had known. I still remember the one whipped cream fight and indoors water fight I had as a child. My kids will probably look at those stains and remember a fun time. I hope I can get them off, but if not I hope we remember the fun and not the mess.
