My little boy is going to be 4
in less than a week. I can't believe it. He'll be starting pre-school in the fall. I was looking at pics of him from almost a year ago that I hadn't looked at in awhile and I was stunned at how much he's changed. It is so fun to watch him grow and change. More and more every day I can see the older child he's going to become. But, it's still happening too fast

1. My daughter will be 6 on Sunday
Where did THAT go? The worst part is, my son just turned 3, and we hardly seem to remember his babyhood. It was just a blur.

2. My babies are 2 and 4.
Both their vocabularies took a huge jump recently. I enjoy every new phase, but I am missing the baby part right now, too.

3. Happy birthday to your son
and the other poster's daughter.

My son is currently 2. He'll turn 3 in late October of this year. That's still pretty far off, but it's strange to think my son will be turning 3 some time this year. I can tell he's becoming more like a little kid and less like a baby. He's like a baby in that he still wears diapers (although, he will pee in the potty if he is naked). Also, some of the things he says still sound like babbles, but most of what he says is discernible English. He's gotten dramatically better at speaking. He can say enough words now that he is able to ask for just about anything he wants. He tries to sing along with songs on his videos. He also tries to recite stories that are familiar to him as I read them. He didn't start talking until 18 months, so he's made a lot of progress in less than a year. Another big kid thing that he has being doing for a while now (since a little bit before turning two) is feeding himself. It's so nice to not have to feed him, but with some foods, like spaghetti which he loves, he makes a really big mess.

5. Thanks.
We're celebrating this weekend, because everyone was sick last weekend.

My youngest is turning 2 in October. I can't believe it! It seems like he was just born. His baby and toddlerhood seems to be zipping by even faster than my first one did.

4. I hear you
My "little" boy is going to be 14 in a few weeks. I can still remember the first day of kindergarten, it seems as if it was only a few years ago. Once they start school, the time just flies by. In the past year, my son has grown almost 6 inches, his feet have gone from a size 7 to a 10 (men's sizes).

Hugs your little boy and enjoy every minute cuz before you know it, he won't be that little any more.

6. It's amazing.
It's like you enter a time warp when you have kids. A year seems like a month, now. Happy birthday to your "little" boy. :hi:

7. My oldest turned four this past week too!
I found myself amazed at how fast the time has gone for the first time really. Hope you have a good celebration!

8. Take LOTS of pictures.
My oldest will be 11 this summer, and my youngest is five months old. It seems like just yesterday that my oldest was a little baby herself, but no matter how hard I try I can't remember what she looked like as an infant. The time goes by so fast that the memories of them growing up all turn into one big blur.

If it weren't for my photo albums, I wouldn't remember much of the day to day parts of their childhoods. If you don't already have one, get a good digital camera and take lots of pictures.

11. Very true.
I was ill for a time after I had my second baby. I actually had pre-eclampsia after the baby was born, which isn't as common, and it was so severe I had to be hospitalized. So, I feel like I missed out on his newborn phase. I wish we'd taken more pictures already.

9. Surprise, surprise - more common ground!

I have the feeling you and I are going to be friends for the long haul, Pithlet!

My daughter is five and I am amazed at the difference each year - or even a few months or weeks - bring. She is the tallest kid in her kindergarten class (and of course, in my mind, the brightest as well!). Every stage of her development has been more exciting than the last. But I have to admit, I recently started feeling nostalgic about the baby/toddler days. We can't wait until they can walk so we don't have to carry 'em around everywhere, you know? But now, all of a sudden, my arms feel really empty!

I'm almost 36, no spring chicken, but another baby isn't out of the question. I've got some health issues related to an illness that left me temporarily paralyzed four years ago (I've now recovered to about 90% of my former mobility). I just made an appointment with my doctor today to discuss whether or not expanding the family is a good idea!

Are you considering having any more children?

On edit:
I just read your follow up post and see you have a 2-year-old as well.

10. No more kids for me
Sadly. I'd like to have one more, but health reasons combined with a husband dead set against the idea prevent it. My littlest one is more toddler and less baby every day. I'm already feeling the baby hunger again. I just think of the horrible morning sickness and it helps somewhat :) I have two healthy kids, and you can't ask for anything more.

It is amazing how quickly they change. He surprises me every day. 4 seems to be a big milestone for rapid development.

Good luck on your doctor's appt. If you decide to, having a second baby is a new adventure all over again. All the things you think will be the same the second time around usually aren't. And, as the younger one gets older, it's fun to watch the developing relationship between the two.
