prayer request
For me and my daughter. The last 12 years have been chaos. My husband (at the time) had an affair with a former graduate student and my health has deteriorated. My marriage ended 4 years ago and since then, I'm floundering with jobs, personal relationships and my sense of self-worth. My self-esteem is at an all time low and I know it's making my beautiful 18 year old daughter anxious and worried. Her panic attacks have increased in the last year.

While I know my life has not been a complete failure, it's difficult at times to not feel as though all I've done is fail and let people (especially my daughter) down. I lost my job due to a bad fit and medication issues on November 30th. My first temp assignment ended after a day when they asked that I do something illegal and unethical.

The holidays used to be such a special time of year. Now they're just something to be endured until the new year finally arrives.

Thank you to all of you for your prayers. You are in mine.

1. Dear Lizziegrace,
I am sorry for all the trouble and pain you have had to endure. It's sometimes hard to feel hopeful when you're in the midst of it all... and that's when we need to ask the community to pray FOR us (because often, we don't even have the strength to do that ourselves).

Thank you for coming to this group. That's a positive step in regaining your self-esteem, because you ARE worthy of a better life.

My hope for you this season is that you find hope for the future, healing for the past, and strength to endure the present time.

2. Thank you Rev
While I've never minded a good challenge, I find I'm just bone-weary tired after this year. The good news is that I finally got a diagnosis after struggling for 25 years with ADD. No one would know unless you could hear the racing thoughts in my head as I tried to sleep and witnessed my inability to concentrate or complete some projects. Those 25 years had left me wondering if I was lazy, stupid or crazy. I now know I'm neither and am working with a counselor to try and regain some self-esteem and confidence. In the meantime, I don't know how the rent will be paid in January.

I guess I'd just like to catch one break. I don't want wealth. I don't want "things". I'd like a little security and calm.

LG

3. It sounds like you're already on your way.
May God's peace surround you, and may the blessings of Christmas remain with you always.

5. Thank you
The checking account's overdrawn and the holidays are not a time to find work. I cashier part time at a grocery store from 7pm til 1am tonight. My knees and feet cannot take that job much longer. I'm trying to remain hopeful and keep the faith, but I really just want to curl up in a corner and cry.

6. Lizziegrace, you're in the thoughts of more than have posted here.
I think a lot of people just answer prayer requests and don't post about it. I know that I don't always say that I've done it.

And a side note: If you feel like curling up and crying, it might not be a bad thing to just do it and express that. Suppressed emotions can feed on themselves and grow.

7. I do the same
I pray for people without telling them I do. It's very kind of you to post. I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and that 2006 will be the beginning of better days for those who need them.
