1. I suggest all Liberal Christians read Blood Brothers by Elisa Chacour
I admit to being rather Pro-Palestinian after having my eyes open by the story of this man who lived in "Palestine" in 1948 and their (palestinian Christians and Muslims) version of history. History shouldn't always be written by the victors and it is good to hear both sides of the story. It is particularly important at this time to understand why we are where we are with the I/P conflict.

I think that we tooo often let the media shape our opinions about issues that deserve deeper exploration. Looking forward to checking out the book. :)

8. I spent a little time looking around his website this morning
Thanks for mentioning him.
I especially liked this:
I AM PATIENT
This lesson is about being patient with myself and with everyone else. It is about knowing that time exists only to facilitate healing and growing. I see the difference between patience and procrastination. Today, I move effortlessly through my functions and activities with patience and love. Today, I am patient.

9. He *is* an awesome person to read about
Very inspiring.

And to think at one point he was HERE, in the US...he didn't HAVE to go back to Germany, but he chose to.

5. I am not home yet but I recommend Jesus the Heretic. It changed
my life. When I get home, I'll edit this post with it and a couple of amazing books that mesh the Jesus story with Dionysian mythology and speculate how the early church created the structure around the historic Jesus to co-op the pagans. It really is a better thing than my few words here but I'm about to get kicked off. Being out of town, I have not participated like I hope to. Lilli, thanks for all the good vibes. And to all, thank you for helping my father get well. Hugs to all.

RV, making her way home the hard way. Uh, you might send a vibe out so that the fog lifts and I can fly home tomorrow. :-D

11. Emmet Fox is one of my favorites
He does a great job of taking the bible and then showing the metaphysical meaning of it. It gives new meaning to the words. An example, and please understand I don't have the ability to explain as he does, is the concept of "Thou shalt not kill". It is true that one should not go around killing people, so the literal intent is there, but it's also (as he says) true that you cannot kill someone, because we do not die, even upon "death". This is just a tiny example. All of his books are excellent, including his day by day meditation book.

12. Sounds really interesting
I had started to do a bit of study of metaphysics and the bible a few years ago and got sidetracked. I do have a really great Metaphysical Bible Dictionary that was produced by Unity.

Thanks for the suggestion...
