1. Very pretty, but an awful lot of work.
Yikes, that would take hours.

2. true -- but how creative is that?
I wouldn't want to eat it after all that work.

4. the frosting decorations are great
but I gotta say, those carcinogenic dyes are not doin it for me :-)

I can imagine a much nicer cake, somehow using the way to decorate and better and less colors.

5. Carcinogenic dyes?
Not sure what you mean. Most of the cake decorating colorings I've seen are from vegetable sources...

6. Not only that
you can buy fondant that's already in every color of the rainbow. Just roll out, cut and stick on.

8. I'm really intrigued by the marshmallow fondant that is made
by the woman who created the heart cake that this cake was based upon. I wonder what it does for the flavor and texture of the fondant?

The pre-made sounds really handy if you do volume work like professional cake deco. I'd still probably want to make my own.

9. I have Red Dye num. 3 on the brain
I've just assumed since then that dyes are evil. Maybe I'm wrong?

11. Vegetable dyes
have been used for eons in food as well as fabrics. Leather, not so much ("yellow" leather typically used urine. Organic, but ugh.)

Although, to be safe, read the labels.

13. leather
Well, it's somebody's skin after all, I'm not sure the urine makes it much worse :-(

16. The only thing really wrong with that cake is the pink frosting
If they'd used white, people would be raving about how beautiful it is.

Even that stupid lollipop would have looked like less of a sin.

14. I have to applaud the effort and the concept

But honestly it doesn't seem that appetizing to me. I'm a little queasy with all the colors! It did remind me of those jello poke cakes people use to make in the 60's.

I once worked with a gal who I believe had a bit of OCD and she was famous for her layered jello molds. She did one with 24 different colors. Some layers were mixed with cream cheese or sour cream to lend a different texture. She told me once she would get up in the middle of the night to build her layers as she needed to wait for the lower most layer to set before she put the next one on. They were absolutely beautiful! She also did Stained glass window like pieces out of jello jigglers. Art is everywhere!

15. Cool photos!
Thanks for sharing.

I love rainbows. :-) It was always something I drew as a kid when the crayons came out.

Jello rainbows are da bomb. But, you're right. A. lot. of. work.
