I have violated my principles.
I bought an organic apple grown in New Zealand yesterday. I couldn't resist. It was nearly a pound in size, and beautifully colored. The variety is "Envy". It was very good and lasted me two days! I ate it with some French sheep's milk feta and some rye triscuits. Great snack.

But I apologize to apple growers in this country.

Interesting marketing campaign, btw.

1. Wow, that's quite a website-- all for an apple!
With a name like "Envy" I'm surprised you didn't end up asleep in a glass case with seven very short men lamenting around you. ;)

3. New Seasons
A small local chain. Maybe Whole Foods has them though.

4. Re the marketing campaign
New Zealand orchardists took a hit because fruit could not be exported to Australia because of the risk of fire blight. There has been acrimony for some time and I believe this is an attempt to repair the damage.

Sounds like a good move to me!

I'll have to make a trip to check them out, curious what a 1 lb apple looks like

They're beautiful, alright.
