Freakin' cats!
I had a little less than half of an unfrosted chocolate cake in my 13x9 Pyrex baking dish. Bill had already had some with ice cream tonight, and I was planning on it with some strawberries. They got on the table and got to acting wild and knocked the damn thing onto the floor. It shattered completely.

Guess I'll just have ice cream and strawberries without the cake.

1. What a bummer! And I'll bet they didn't even have the good manners
to clean it up (as my dogs would have! LOL)

Now you have an opportunity to make another one tomorrow!

7. Thank goodness the dog wasn't in the house.
It was so full of glass! Trust me, I have more than enough to make today. LOL

2. Damn cats, can't live with them, can't saute them with aromatics
Mine doesn't get up on the counter or tabletop, one of the bennies of having a cat who's pushing 18. However, when she had an accomplice, she'd unwind balls of yarn around furniture and all over the house. Then the two of them would try to look innocent.

After 12 hour night shifts, I was never amused.

8. Ours pretty much go wherever they like,
especially the littlest one. She knows no boundaries, and she is the typical youngest child, no discipline works with her at all.

4. One of my favorite childhood stories...
My sister made a birthday cake and left the layers on the table to cool. The cats got a hankering and ate what they wanted first. My sister ended up piecing the remaining parts together to make a butterfly and it was one of our all time favorites.

Damn cats! Sorry about your pyrex.

5. Same story, different dessert! I had a siamese who ate the
middle out of a coconut custard pie. I cut around the eaten part and sliced it into small slices. Sorry you missed your cake and lost your baking dish, HW, but I'll bet you can't stay mad at them very long--the little bastids!!!

11. I would have roared
at the sight of that cream covered little face. I'm sure she was probably covered whisker to whisker. LOL

No, it's hard to stay mad at them. They're so damn adorable.

Good story, Phen! They Pyrex was the bigger loss, for sure. Luckily, I have another glass baker that size.

12. Are you kidding?
The crash was so loud, they all split in different directions like they were on fire.

We got it swept up in pretty short order. :hi:

13. Darn!
My old Pyrex shattered in oven, while filled with chicken/potatoes/vegs dinner! This was years ago, got the dish used from my mother, so it was very old. BIG loss, dinner + dish! Wondered what caused the muted explosion!

15. That's odd that it was old Pyrex
and still exploded. Usually, it's the newer stuff that isn't as good. Sorry for your loss.
