1. Yes, the same right back at ya!
Edited on Fri Dec-31-10 01:06 PM by Denninmi
I have a couple of food related New Year's resolutions.

The first is to break my substance addiction. I have resolved that the last 4 or 5 bottles of Diet Mountain Dew in the house are THE LAST 4 or 5 bottles. I bought a big bag of lemons this morning at Meijer. After those bottles are gone, it's iced tea for me. Still need my caffeine buzz, but I don't need the expense of my little habit.

The second is to bake ALL of my own bread this year. Why should I buy the cheap but still expensive $2 a loaf mass market junk, or pay $5 to $6 a loaf for something that actually tastes like bread. Bought myself about 50lbs of various flours recently, including a 25 lb all purpose this morning.

Finally, I'm going to watch what I eat and cook healthier foods this year. Been enjoying myself just a little too much, and my pants are feeling a wee bit snug some days.

2. Sounds like you will be off to an excellent start!
And it's hard to beat your own fresh bread.

I'm not sure what the new year will bring me food-wise. I find I feel better eating small, lighter meals, and I am in the position to do that (no kids to cook normal meals for) so I think I will continue along that way. I would like to get better at making homemade pasta! So maybe I'll work on that this year... And, I want to grow my herbs again. I miss fresh basil and dill. :)

4. Ah, homemade pasta. That is a great idea.
I have an awesome electric pasta maker. It can put out all kinds of different shapes. I should dig it out of the small appliance graveyard and make my own pasta, too.

I used to make some pretty fun pastas by dehydrating various things and putting it into the dough. Mushrooms were good, beet was fun, and a couple of my favorites were sweet potato and butternut squash pasta. I found I could generally use about 4 parts semolina or other base flour to 1 part of the vegetable powder. Oh, and nut flours make awesome pasta additions, too.

Thanks! Another resolution. More homemade pasta!

12. I like the idea of the flavored pastas a lot
May give that a try...I don't have a machine so I'll be doing it the really old fashioned way lol

21. Wishing you all a healthy, happy new year!
And I add my wishes for the same to all of my C&B buds.

I'm not going so much for changing my diet, but I am getting back to a gentle exercise program. It worked last January, and I can do it again!

Winter sucks the life out of me, every year.

Back to my normal weight is my goal. I just need to get going! Who's with me? LOL

Well, despite my bread baking resolution. I notice my pants are a little snug. I'm going to make healthier meals with more vegetables and less meat and cheese.
