I have never roasted corn on the cob, on the BBQ..
Do I have to prepare it a certain way?

How do you do it?

1. It's best roasted in the husks, IMO
but some people remove the husks and wrap it in tinfoil with a little butter. I just find that the husks give it extra moisture and a little extra flavor.

7. It's really true about the moisture and flavor.
When I make tamales, I use roasted corn kernels in the masa and only use freshly roasted corn. There is no comparison with corn fixed any other way.

2. I soak the husks whole, then place it on top of the smoker
I absolutely love it that way.

5. That is corn the way the Great Godess of Corn intended it to be prepared.
This is what I quaintly and lovingly call "unfuckedaroundwith" corn.

Do nothing to it. Do not pull aside the husk to peek. Do not wash. Do not soak. Do not salt. Do not butter.

Do nothing.

Put it on the grill and turn it as the sides darken. Keep grilling. The outer husks may even catch fire.

Persevere and resist the urge to remove it. Just keep turning it. At some point you will see the outline of a few of the individual kernels appearing in the char. That's when its done. It takes 10 to 15 minutes, depending on your fire.

Let it cool a bit. Peel it. Eat it. We never put anything on it at all. Just corn and teeth and tongue.

A variation is to strip away some of the husk until only a layer or two is left. This results in more brown on the actual kernels, but hardly seems, to us, worth the bother.

Just like any other goddess, she provides a luscious bounty and at the same time is adulterated and profaned by man for his own greedy purposes, no?

6. Are you going to do that tonight?
Oh, yum! I hope it turns out so delicious for you. Roasted corn is so incredible! I've never done it either but I could just park myself outside the roast corn stand at the fair and eat til I explode.

8. Yum yum yum yum yum!!!!!!
I just peel everything back and toss on the grill.

If a kernel or two start to brown up, I turn it.

Juicy. Tasty. Sweet.

Yum yum yum yum yum!!!!!

9. I let the corn soak in water so the husks will be nice and wet
when I put on the grill. I turn it so that all sides of the cob are exposed to the heat.
