1. They were always adorable together.
She was such an inspiration. I'm glad we have Jacques, but I do miss that Julia.

2. Where are you watching?
That new Cooking Channel says it has the really old cooking shows, but I have yet to find out what channel it is on dishnetwork, if it's even there.

Galloping Gourmet, etc., would certainly be more entertaining than current foodnetwork personalities, eh?

4. Channel 110 on Dish?
They said it's a new channel, not foodtv channel. I looked ahead in the guide for it May 31 - nope. Nothing called cooking channel.

6. I needed both the GG and Julia to give me a love of cooking
Julia taught me the basics of sauces and seasoning and how to shop. The GG taught me it was OK to have fun in the kitchen, not to take anything that seriously, and if proper ingredients had been used, even the fuckups were likely to be edible if they hadn't been completely charred.

That's what I hope the new channel does. It's taking over the Fine Living Channel, so that should tell you where it will be on cable or Dish.

I'm really, really sick of chefs and their overdone, overtweaked foods and would welcome an alternative, even if that alternative is 40 years old.

7. They really are good together. It's interesting to me to see them use
different methods of cooking the same thing.
