Just had a close call with my super-sharp paring knife......
My avocado never ripened up well, so when I tried to whack the pit out with a chop from the knife, it didn't work. In the process of getting frustrated and careless I slashed the side of my left ring finger near the nail.

Muy stupido. Bled all over the kitchen counter before I realized how bad it was, lol. It'll be ok. I just stuck a bandaid and some neosporin on it.

Shameful, though. I'm supposed to know how to handle sharps safely.

1. I hate it when the moon is in Klutz
and I don't quite hit that pit dead on. Usually, I just pry the sucker out, since I'm mashing at least half the avocado for one thing while slicing the other half for something else.

3. I'm glad you're alright
That is the main reason I don't ever attempt using that method, after almost cutting right into my hand. Nope, never again will I use that technique. I use a spoon and pry the seed loose.

:hi:

4. That's what I normally do. And since this avocado was underripe and
the pit was firmly in place, I have no rational explanation for my impulsive behavior.

I won't make that mistake again. It wasn't too bad - just like a really bad, deep paper cut.
