Blackberries-Cobbler or with cream?
Local Newflower Market has them for 77 cents per container. I bought half a dozen.

1. Unless you're feeding a dozen people
you can do both, plus macerate some of the squashed ones on the bottoms of the containers for pancakes or ice cream syrups.

Blackberries never survived to cooking when I found them. I just scarfed them right down.

Worst case of chiggers I ever had was from blackberry picking.

5. I don't know what the correlation is between chiggers and blackberries.
I really think that chiggers hang out in blackberry patches because they know that sooner or later some damn fool is going to come pick some berries and they can just latch on. I've never picked blackberries without getting chiggers, no matter how much insect repellent or protective clothing I've tried.

6. I love blackberries any way you fix them, but I have a real fondness for berries and cream.
When I was a kid, we had Jersey cows, who give some of the richest milk, and we always ate the first ripe blackberries of the season in a bowl with a little sugar and that rich, yellow Jersey cream. The taste is indescribable.

7. When my kids were little, I'd send them out to "pick" blackberries
and they'd come back with blue/purple stained faces and empty pails. LOL

8. One time when my kids were little, we found a small blackberry patch
while we were out going to the park. Since it was across a ditch, I took a styrofoam cup that was in the car and stepped across the ditch and picked the berries, which just about filled up the cup. We all shared them and it was a nice treat. The next day, I had so many chiggers that it prompted my sister to say that if I'd gotten as many berries as I had chiggers, we could have had a cobbler.
