My daughter cooked the best turkey dinner ever
Seriously.

Cider Glazed Turkey - roasted with apples, onion and thyme in the cavity with a cider/wine baste. 16 lb turkey, 425 for 3 hours. Perfection.

Deglaze the turkey pan with some white wine, make a roux, and then pour in 4 cups of the turkey juices. Hers had not one lump and was the perfect color and thickness. Slight apple sweetness was perfect with the turkey, although the turkey didn't remotely need any gravy.

Sourdough, sausage, apple and celery dressing.

Mashed potatoes and butternut squash with butter and green onion.

Cold broccoli salad with an out of this world dressing.

Fresh crescent rolls.

Unbelievable. I wouldn't know how it could be surpassed.

Hope yours was as wonderful!

3. I'll ask her tomorrow
It was just good, a creamy dressing but not too heavy or overwhelming.

8. mayo, sugar, vinegar
Yeah, she's one of those cooks. Just threw together some mayo, sugar and a little vinegar, no big deal. The salad had red onion so maybe the flavor from that settled into the dressing, adding a little zip. The salad was broccoli flowerets, halved cherry tomatoes, red onion, cheddar cheese tidbits, sunflower seeds. And that dressing. Doesn't sound like much but it was really good. If I discover she used a particular kind of wine vinegar or something, I'll let you know.

4. lol, no, I'd have ruined it
I was freaked out about the cooking temperature and time. I made her boil the giblets in case we needed more turkey flavor in the gravy. I always, always, always, do giblet stuffing and she dared to not even stuff the bird and didn't use a giblet in the whole meal. lol. She's a great cook and an even better baker. This was just an amazing meal.

7. You deserve much of the credit

... even if you didn't give her your already great cooking skills, you grew her up to be competent - and that's more important.

Well done, Mom!
