Reynolds Handi-Vac is being discontinued.
For more than a month I have been searching for Handi-Vac vacuum bags and finding none anywhere. I e-mailed Reynolds and got this reply:

"We have made the difficult decision to discontinue manufacturing and distributing Reynolds® Handi-Vac® Vacuum Sealing Pumps and Bags. Product inventory has been depleted and is no longer available.

Reynolds is proud to have developed this breakthrough product for food storage but, regrettably, Handi-Vac is one of those great products that was unable to generate the consumer demand and profitability required to keep it in our product portfolio.

Thank you for your loyalty to this innovative product and for your continued support of Reynolds Consumer Products."

I've been very pleased with the results I've had from Handi-Vac so I'm bummed. :(

1. I'm irritated!
I found this comment from April 2008 when I went looking for the bags online.

Best seller, huh? So then they just discontinue it?

I know we've had food saver discussions here before and maybe I'll have to spring for a more expensive option. But these were pretty handy when I had them!

2. That sucks
No pun intended. Funny thing is, it is a more cost effective way thatn the far more costly FoodSaver. Plus the Reynolds bags can be resealed and even reused.

I own one. My only objection was that it took so long to evacuate the air from a bag.

4. Not that it matters now but......
When I had to replace the batteries it then sucked out the air in a flash. The generic batteries that were in it when I bought it ran at about half power in comparison.

Dammit, I'm ticked. I guess I'll have to put a Seal-A-Meal on my Christmas list. :D

3. What a fricken shame
I was just thinking that I need to pick up a new box of bags. It's a great product. Much more handy than the full size suckers. I don't have a lot of kitchen space so I loved this product for it's ease and compactness.

6. I do.

I replied to the e-mail I got and told them it was a terrible decision. I'd boycott Reynolds but who else makes aluminum foil?

8. I wrote them but got no answer back.
I'm hoping that others might also write them.

I see that ziplock is making a new gadget but it looks like a loser. You have to hand pump out the air.

At my local store there is a shelf with lots of the Reynolds gadgets, but no bags.
