picalilli Thursday
My plan is to get up early and trek to the store with my Radio Flyer wagon to bring home vinegar and stuff. Then head to the garden to pick many pounds of green tomatoes. Then chop chop chop and brine brine brine and put up picalilli relish and also dilled green tomato pickles. All in a tiny kitchen --- it will be a big day.

Today I took my old orange tabby into the garden on a leash. He is an indoor cat because he's just not real spry these days, but I thought it only fair that he have one day in the garden before the rain starts. He was transfixed by the turkeys. He stared, and stared, and stared at them. They have learned to gobble, and did their best to fuss at him, while his orange ringtail thrashed back and forth.

I am trying to get as many raspberries into the freezer as possible. On the weekend, I had a two year old visiting who took home a bucket of raspberries and ate them all the way home in the car. This little boy loved trying to pull big fat carrots out of the dirt!

There are a lot of quinces and persimmons on the trees. I wonder when they will ripen. Both are very hard yet.

I also did about 4 quarts of green tomato mincemeat which will make for great cookies around the holidays!
